The society of American Samoa which is located in Hawaii has the ritual apology ceremony which is called IFOGA.

The culture of Samoa means respect for all the individuals. Also, it means to honor the chiefly system and the bond between neighbors.

IFOGA demonstrates remorse and regret by begging for forgiveness from the so called offended party. In IFOGA, an apology with an "ie-toga" (i-toga) gives the formality and the sincerity of the occasion because of the importance of its value.
