Natural selection is a mechanism that drives evolution. Natural selection involves the selection of individuals with traits that are "fitter" as against individuals with traits that are less "fitter".

The forces of nature acts against individuals with traits that less "fitter", leading to the survival of mostly individuals that are more "fitter".

Overtime, individuals with "fitter" traits pass them through genes to their offspring, leads to eventual survival and more dominance of the traits that is favored by the prevailing forces of nature.
