A store sold 60 copies of a magazine for $240. Each copy of the magazine costs the same. Which equation and set of ordered pairs best represents the price, in dollars, of a certain number of copies of the magazine?
y = 3x; (1, 3), (2, 6), (3, 9)
y = 4x; (1, 4), (2, 8), (3, 12)
y = 5x; (1, 5), (2, 10), (3, 15)
y = 6x; (1, 6), (2, 12), (3, 18)

Hello!

First we have to find out how much each copy cost

240 / 60 = 4

Since each magazine cost $4 the answer is y = 4x; (1,4), (2,8), (3,12)

Hope this helps!

The equation and set of ordered pairs best represents the price, in dollars, of a certain number of copies of the magazine is  y = 4x; (1,4), (2,8), (3,12)

What is Algebra?

Algebra is a branch of mathematics that deals with symbols and the arithmetic operations across these symbols. These symbols do not have any fixed values and are called variables.

But there is a constant need to represent these changing values. Here in algebra, these values are often represented with symbols such as x, y, z, p, or q, and these symbols are called variables.

Further, these symbols are manipulated through various arithmetic operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, with an objective to find the values.

Algebraic Expressions

An algebraic expression in algebra is formed using integer constants, variables, and basic arithmetic operations of addition(+), subtraction(-), multiplication(×), and division(/).

An example of an algebraic expression is 5x + 6. Here 5 and 6 are fixed numbers and x is a variable.

Given:

A store sold 60 copies of a magazine for $240.

For each copy he have pay = 240/ 60 =  $4

So,

each magazine cost $4 gives the function

y = 4x; (1,4), (2,8), (3,12)
