Inhalant abuse is also referred
to as intoxicative inhalant. These inhalants are products of industrial and household
production in which their purpose does not include inhalation. They are taken
from a container that is highly pressurized or by room temperature
volatilization. Examples of these are butane (inside a canister), rugby,
thinner, paints, etc. They are inhaled
through the nose and trachea. The effects can be traumatizing depending on the
substance used. They can lead to euphoria or vivid hallucinations. Too much of
these can lead to death.
