The answer is D. While the state can take away your freedom, your life, and some cases your property, they can't just do it because they want to. You have a right to a fair legal process that includes a trial in front of your peers, no searches and seizures without a warrant, and no cruel and unusual punishment as some examples. IF you feel like your rights have been violated, you don't have to sit there and take it.

The answer is D.   due process of law
