There are three people running in the upcoming election. Candidate Mark Thomas is a Republican. Candidate Joe Hill is a Democrat. Candidate Paul Jones is an Independent. If Jones had not run for election, the people who voted for him would have voted for Candidate Hill, since their views were the most similar. Candidate Thomas won the election. How does this scenario demonstrate a way that third parties can influence an election?

A. A third party candidate will take funding away from a major party's campaign. B. A third party candidate brings issues to the debate that otherwise wouldn't be discussed. C. A third party candidate will attack the major party candidates for domestic policy strategies. D. A third party candidate takes votes from a major political party candidate

Respuesta :

I️ kinda thought the answer was D because if the third party candidate didn’t run his votes would have gone to the person with similar views, which is the candidate hat lost. So if the third party didn’t run the similar candidate would have gotten more votes because you wouldn’t be splitting the votes between two people on the same side

the answer i D because i did it on study island
