The loyalists who were also called royalists or Tories were colonists
who were still loyal to the British Crown.
When the Americans won the Revolutionary War, many of them moved to other
parts of North America. Some settled in
Florida and the Caribbean where the British Crown still had territories while
others moved to Canada and were given land or money by the British. The patriots were colonies who rebelled
against the British and fought several battles and eventually won their
independence from British rule.
