A bakery offers a small circular cake with a diameter of 8 inches.It also offers a large circular cake with a diameter of 24 inches.Does the top of the large cake have three times the area of that the small cake?if not,how much greater is its area?Explain.

A=(pi)(radius^2)
radius=4 for small circular cake
radius=12 for large circular cake

Area of small circular cake=16pi
Area of big circular cake=144pi
144pi/16pi=9 times bigger than small circular cake.
