Hello!

First you have to make the denominators the same so the numbers are comparable.

You can multiply the top and bottom number in 2/3 to get 6/9

Now you add

4 6/9 + 3 1/9 = 7 7/9

The answer is 7 7/9

Hope this helps!
So, first you have to make mixed numbers into improper fractions. That's when you multiply the denominator by the whole number then add the numerator.

That would come out to be 14/3 over 28/9.

Next, you want to have a common denominator, so...
14·3=42  and the other improper fraction can stay the same.
3·3=9

Then, you add straight across which would give you an answer of 70/9.

To turn the improper fraction back to a mixed number you must divide 70 by 9 WITHOUT it being a decimal.

Your answer will be 7 7/9.

(Sorry it took so long)
Hope this helps!
