World War I was the war that is most closely associated with the telegram Nicholas II sent to Wilhelm II. The telegram in question was actually sent by Tsar Nicolas of Russia to Wilhelm of Germany. There was already complications when Franz ferdinand was murdered by the Serbian agents. Serbia did not want to cooperate in the investigation and ultimately it offended Austria. This was one of the causes for the start of World War I.
