2 is not a composite number but it is actually a prime number because it is only divisible by one and itself and only composite numbers have more than just 2 factors so since 2 only has 2 factors, it is a prime number.
Factors:-

2 = 1, 2 (Prime)
9 = 1, 3, 9 (Composite)
15 = 1, 3, 5, 15 (Composite)
21 = 1, 3, 7, 21 (Composite)  

So, 2 is not a composite number in this list.
