By today's standards they where treated very poorly. They were taken out of their homes and put into armed guarded interment camps. People would liken these camps to prisoner of war camps but populated by many innocent people whose only reason for being there was their race; Japanese. By the standards of that day, it was justified by fear and anxiety about the being at war with Japan.
