Explanation: Counter-Reformation was a reaction of Catholic Church to Reformation. Catholic church lost its power, influence, respect and authority and tried to regain it ! At least in Europe it was like that. In Québec and Latin America it enjoyed influence ....helped significantly to colonization and even in 20th century enjoyed much influence. Papacy was never abolished.
