The statement that is true of rocket flight but not airplane flight is Option(D) It has the ability to create lift in a vacuum.
What happens in propulsion during rocket flight ?
In a rocket engine, fuel is a source of oxygen, called an oxidizer, are mixed and exploded in a combustion chamber. The combustion produces hot exhaust which is passed through a nozzle to accelerate the flow and produce thrust. Therefore the net lift which is exerted by the rocket is produced in the vacuum space.
In the airplane flight, the propulsion occurs due to the two machine located at the two wings of the airplane. The lift is produced due to the wind energy of the turbine in the air which causes the plane to accelerate.
Therefore, the statement that is true of rocket flight but not airplane flight is Option(D) It has the ability to create lift in a vacuum.
