They established their domination over the land masses in Asia and successfully imposed into the existing sea trade of Asia. Their commercial success based on their powerful navy and their control of seaports for the monopoly of the spice trade. In Asia, the Portuguese linked in trading investments and limited its entire interest to trade. Portuguese constructed forts in Kilwa, Goa, Hormuz, and Cannore and built their first factory at Calicut in 1502.
