though i can’t write your paragraph for you, i recommend searching up a website that has a summary of the great gatsby and use that for your textual evidence. as for your definition of greatness, i can’t answer that for you because it’s up to interpretation, but if you need any more help, let me know!

Answer:Here!

Explanation:

In The Great Gatsby, the American Dream is supposed to stand for independence. It shows that one can achieve things with hard work. The underlying message of the Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is that money doesn't buy happiness. Gatsby pretended that he was “the son of some wealthy people in the Middle West” just so he could fit in with people. Great to me means, a large amount of something like, "Great Wealth".The Great Gatsby is a tragic love story on the surface, but it's most commonly understood as a pessimistic critique of the American Dream. In the novel, Jay Gatsby overcomes his poor past to gain an incredible amount of money and a limited amount of social cache in 1920s NYC, only to be rejected by the "old money" crowd. He then gets killed after being tangled up with them.
