After Napoleon attempted to invade Russia it was a major failure and was the start of the downfall of the French Empire.

Although Napoleon was able to capture, cities such as Moscow. The Grand Army had taken a heavy toll every time they pushed deeper into Russian lands. It did not help that the Russians used the Scorched Earth Tactic which caused many French troops to die of starvation, hypothermia, dehydration, disease, etc.
