Elvis Presley made his first appearance on “The Ed Sullivan Show” The King of Rock and Roll teamed up with TV's reigning variety program, as Elvis Presley appears on “The Ed Sullivan Show” for the first time on September 9, 1956.
He actually collapsed from exhaustion on February 23, 1956, after performing in Jacksonville, Florida. The doctor who treated him recommended that he slow down. That's easier said than done, of course. Elvis was still part of the Louisiana Hayride, but he made his last regular appearance in March 1956.
