well in 1969 the stonewall riots began bc all states but illinois i believe had acknowledged he lgbtq community. in the earlier 1900s bars and restaurants refused to serve members of the lgbtq so they participated in a sip in where they all went to bars and drank not following the business in 1973 homosexuality wasn’t considered an illness so anytime before that people thought they were mentally ill when really they just love the same sex or both sexes.
