Philip II became the king of Macedonia at the age of 23. Although he was the youngest of his brothers, he became the king because they were killed in battle.

He unified the city states of Greece, this was after he defeated the army of Athens and Thebes. He did this through a PanHellenic congress that was summoned in Corinth.
