A variation in hormone levels is referred to as a hormone fluctuation. Throughout a person's lifetime, hormone levels normally fluctuate. For instance, sex hormone levels rise throughout adolescence in both men and women, and they fall as people age.
- Throughout the menstrual cycle, oestrogen levels fluctuate twice. After ovulation, oestrogen levels immediately begin to decline after rising throughout the mid-follicular period. Following this, oestrogen levels rise again in the middle of the luteal phase and then fall at the end of the menstrual cycle.
