Weather has reported that it's thickness is 500 feet from where station originatinating field elevation of 1300 feet msl from the bottom of the overcast cloud layer.
The thickness of the overcast layers at kokc and reported that the base of the overcast layer at 2000 feet AGL ovc020 .If the sky was covered between 5/8 and 7/8 heights of clouds it was reported as broken cloud but if it was covered 8/8th heights of clouds then it was overcast cloud.
The meteorological condition of clouds obscuring approx 95% of the sky is defined by the world meteorological organization as overcast weather. Sometimes clouds may be different colors like black & white but when it is overcast it usually refers to darker skies.
