I don't think there is a movie about it, if there was though that would be scary! I've read the book.
Anyway, at the end it creates suspense and surprise at the end with the banging and opening of the front door because the mother just wished her son was alive, and since the monkey's paw turns every wish you make horribly wrong you would expect the son to come back as a zombie or something, at least not the son she remembered!
