The formation of all macromolecules from their specific monomers involve hydrolysis process (i.e. involve the removal of a water molecule).
This water molecule is removed as H from one of the molecules and OH from the other. Hydrolysis process is done in each condensation (connection)
Example:
X + Y ---> X-Y + HOH
X-Y + Z ---> X-Y-Z + HOH
etc . . . .

Condensation is the process by which two monomers or molecules are joined together to form a more complex molecule accompany by a loss of water molecule. During condensation reaction, molecules that project hydrogen atoms are combine with those that project hydroxyl ion, this gives rise to the production of water molecules.
