The cell cycle is a series of developmental phases or activities that occur in a cell which results in its division, and replication of its DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) to produce two new daughter cells in a process known as reproduction. Cells carryout the activities of the cell cycle in an orderly, predictable series of steps, and after the completion of the cell cycle, it returns to its beginning and then repeats itself in the same sequence. In eukaryotic cells (cells that has a true nucleus), the steps of the cell cycle is grouped into two major phases which are; interphase and the mitotic phase.
