Antibiotics are of no benefit in trying to treat the common cold or influenza (or any other virus infection). Nothing will happen because antibiotics aren't effective on viruses, which are the microorganisms responsible for the common cold. Antibiotics can kill only bacteria and are used for infections caused by bacteria
