Density doesn't change whn you cut something into pieces. Imagine a gallon of water poured into pint glasses, the water always has a density of 1kg/m^3
If the block is cut into pieces of different size, then the density of the larger piece is 3 g/cm^3, whereas the density of the smaller piece is only 3 g/cm^3 .
