The generally widely accepted first step of the scientific method is to ask a question.

This is where you think of a question which you want to do an experiment on, and then later on conduct an experiment to answer that question.

The are 7 steps of the scientific method
1) State the problem :Find out what your problem is
2) Gather information: Gather data about the problem
3) Form a hypothesis: Form a logical idea of the answer to your problem
4) Test the hypothesis: Do an experiment to test the logical answer to your problem 
5) Analyze data: Go over all the data you have/ go over the conclusions
6) Draw a conclusion: Based on the data and observations, conclude the answer to your hypothesis
7) Share results: To your friends, teachers, family
