This study best illustrates the: biasing power of diagnostic labels. It was found that when told by the study performers that the interviewees were patients in a mental institution, the participants in the study prejudged them and did not see them without a bias. Thus, they attributed the interviewees as having fit that particular stereotype and confirmed the bias.
