The 19th century was known as the age of new imperialism,where the western powers and Japan conquered most of Africa and parts of Asia.This new age of imperialism reflects the ongoing rivalry between great powers especially France and Great Britain. They have economic desires for new markets and new resources to supply their expansionist dream. Britain and France were the forefront in the imperialism of Southeast Asia. France held the French Indochina while Great Britain held Burma, Malay Peninsula, parts of Borneo and Singapore.
