Both the Nazi regime and the Khmer Rouge were oppressive regimes. This made life difficult for the people who lived under these regimes. Family members were encouraged to spy on each other. If a family member expressed an opinion that was not according to the regime, they were arrested and often executed. Poverty was rife under both of these regimes. There was a lot of bribery and corruption. The party leaders were wealthy while the poor starved. Schools were used as propaganda tools to convince the youth that the ideal of the oppressive regimes were correct.
