Meg goes to the store to get more paper plates for a neighborhood cookout. Each package of paper plates sells for $1.90 meg has $15.96 to spend. What is the maximum number of packages of paper plates she can buy?

Please help

8 paper plates. 15.96 :/ 1.9 = 8.4 you can’t buy .4 of a plate so she bought 8 plates.
tartwell, I would start by multiplying 1.90 by 5, which is 9.50. Meg can buy more than that. Maybe, multiply 1.90 by 10, you get 19, which is way too much. Multiply 1.90 by 7, you get 13.30, she can STILL buy more. Multiply 1.90 by 8, and you get 15.20. If you added 1.90 to that, she wouldn't have enough money. Since you multiplied by 8, that's how many bags she can buy :)
