The answer would be the last option.  Nixon was detached from office by his own resignation. It is extensively supposed that had Nixon not resigned, his accusation by the House and elimination from office by a hearing before the United States Senate would have happened. Ford persisted the détante policy that Nixon has tracked. However, he did not win the 1976 election.
