It was Charybdis.
Together with Scylla, they live near a narrow channel where Odysseus and
his man passed. Odysseus had to choose
between Scylla or Charybdis. He chose
Scylla and lost some of his men. If he
had chosen Charybdis, he would have lost his men as well as his ship. Some say Carybdis is just a giant
whirlpool. Others see Charybdis as
monster with a huge mouth. The whirlppol that Charybdis creates is capable of
dragging a ship under water.
