Japan had ambitions to expand due to the lack of resources and economic decline. Their justification of these expansions was that Europeans had colonized all throughout history and it was time for Japan to unify Asia under one rule. As Japanese propaganda advocated the unification of Asia and the exile of European influence in Asia, Japan truly wanted more resources for their Imperial war ambitions. Military leaders had made the decision to invade China first with smaller justifications such as the Marco-Polo Bridge Incident. Later in the midst of World War II, Japan will strike against the United States in order to capture South-East Asia for its natural resources and territorial expansion.
