In chapter sixteen Jim talk about his family. Jim continues to talk about going to the Free State, specifically his plans to earn money to buy freedom for his wife and children.
Jim, now on a farm owned by Tom's aunt and uncle, has been set free by the boys. However, Tom is shot by his pursuers. Jim gives up his freedom to nurse Tom and regain his health, and he is chained back to the plantation.
Some, like the Phelps family, are traditional family units and apparently function as families. However, other groups such as Huck, Jim, Duke, and King show a family-like role and intrigue, even though they aren't actually blood related.
He misses her so much .He is happy to be away from them. They died so long ago that he has trouble remembering them.
